is about to buy a new truck. Specifically, he’s looking at a Hemi Ram Express Crew Cab in True Blue:
not this one, but same options.
He’s got a 2000 F150 XLT stepside extended cab - looks identical to this truck except faded, rusty, clear-peeling black:
With the 4.6 and 5-speed, and 200k miles.
I mentioned that I need a beater truck and he offered to sell it to me cheap.
He didn’t mention how cheap - but I drive it at least twice a week and it drives like an old truck. Occasional CEL, with some things going on in the dash...
But - it’d be perfect for what I need. Now to talk my wife into it.

“Now to talk my wife into it.”
Talking to my wife about cars I want is like talking to our husky about cars I want. Neither of them acknowledges what I’m saying, they just kind of stare for a bit and go back to what they were doing.

Basically it’s just the point of convincing her an extra ~$20 in insurance and ~$100 in gas per month would be worth it after the purchase price. Maintenance is a Youtube away I guess..

I knew I was in good company here. The only time a I get acknowledgement is when I talk about getting something with two doors, to which she greatly objects, because of children we don’t have and the convenience of putting them in and out of said car.

My current options for children include a Honda Pilot, Honda Insight, or BMW 330Ci. No way am I putting a child car seat in the Insight or BMW (too cramped), and the Pilot is a damn barge, so I’ll be needing something else with 4 doors when we decide to have kids.

the only RAM i’d get is the power wagon or with the diesel
or if it comes free with a life-time warranty

The Chevy SS or Pontiac G8 GT or higher is your answer.

Wait what, you’re married?
All this time I did not know. Well.... she does not have to know about us, right?

It’s kinkier if she does.

I feel your pain. I want several things that are only available as coupes. But I like AfromanGTO's suggestion of an SS. Plus I have access to a former GM Master Tech in my wife's side of the family.

The SS might be an option in a couple years when the prices creep lower.

The G8 GT is a great option as well. It is the VE chassis and the SS is the VF. :) They look so much better with the Holden front bumper.
